Thanks for the great new episode! (I have 5 minutes left to go, which I will hear when I walk to Trader Joe's in a bit!) I use Ravelry in much of the same ways you guys do -- I do not have a queue but my "favorites" list serves as my queue. (Much less guilt that way and I can de-favorite items to accomodate the fluidity of my knitting intentions.) I also love "friend activity." I have found many, many great patterns that way. I also like the forums. I don't participate that much BUT it is great to find Golden Retriever lovers (or whatever) who are also knitters. It's also, as you mentioned, a great way to get practical questions answered like "how scratchy is Lopi?" or "do I really need two skeins to make that shawl?" Speaking of shawls, Nicole, I decided to take your advice and make the Shetland Triangle my first shawl. I'm going to make it with some Sundara sock yarn I bought on Ravelry -- I'm waiting for it to arrive and I'm waiting for Wrap Style to arrive at the library's Presidio Branch! :) THANKS.

Ladies:

Thank God you found that Transformers hat! I can finally knit a hat my son will probably never take off! Have you seen any cool hats with the British flag motif? As always, you are delightful to listen to.

So, I'm actually catching up on old podcasts - I had a spot in there where a missed a few. You totally gave me a shout out in the wildfire knits podcast. Thanks! Sorry to be so late in acknowledging.

And hey - I'd love you guys to check out my blog - I just launched it today in celebration of winning a knitting design contest at Knit 1 - the coolest yarn boutique - here in Chicago. Pics of the designs and the store are on the blog.

I would appreciate any feedback you might have! As always, keep up the great podcast!

Oooh, I'm a new fan of Thao, she's awesome, thank you!

And thank you so much for your kind words about Paul's sweater. I refer to it as "the Frankenstein sweater" because I had to make so many "fixes" to it... but I'm really happy to hear that they look like nice details from the outside ;)

Hi ladies--great episode but I'm bummed I missed out on contributing to the thank you gift, what a dolt!

Re: tagging, I use any and all terms that I might use in the future. So I'd use "cables, cabled, cable." That way I'm covered!

Hey, where's your donate button?

sounds like i use ravelry much in the same way as y'all.
i especially enjoy the "friend activity" feature.
i've noticed when i've marked something as a favorite, a little window opens and lets me add tags on the spot.
i'm going to have to go back now and check your favorites so i can see all these 'cute' hats y'all talked about.
another feature i love about ravelry is researching a project i'm considering making. i love to see all the different yarns used, and read up on possible obstacles before i cast on.

who are we?

  • Jenny Check
Jenny learned to knit in 2005 and now knits to the exclusion of her personal hygiene. Her husband wonders how long this "knit from your stash" charade will continue.
  • Nicole
Nicole (aka Big Sister) is a librarian who knits. Or maybe a knitter who is a librarian. When she's not knitting on the bus or in front of the TV or at lunch or when chatting with friends, she is, well, that's pretty much it. Knitting.
