Jenny has embarked on a project knitting caps and blankets for kids in her oncology ward. If you are interested please email for where you can send your contributions. There are a few guidelines:

  • Machine washability and softness are essential. Please knit in cotton, superwash, or acrylic blends that are easy to care for.
  • Kid heads are nearly as big as adult heads, so caps in the 18-22 inch range are good.
  • Squares for quilts should be around 12" x 12".

For every item you send in you get an entry in a prize drawing. Prizes to be announced soon!

A great episode, as always! :)

Maybe you saw it at Nine Rubies? We carry it. I was just at Marin Fiber Arts recently and don't remember it there. Could be wrong, though.

Thanks for taking me on a visit to the East Coast! It was great to hear about your adventures.

I am going to NY in a few weeks and am now really wanting to go to Shopsin's. Sounds great. But, the link up there is busted. It's spelled wrong. Just wanted to let you know. Also, I love your show. I am a new knitter but you guys inspire me to try clothes (which I haven't had the courage to do yet)

Being from Scranton,on the cusp of the Pocono Mtns,I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast. Believe it or not I have never been to Mountain Knits and Pearls - but now I have to plan a roadtrip.
I hope you got to see some of the beautiful Pocono scenery - we are blessed with some beautiful sights. The Delaware Water Gap can take your breath away! Nature at it's best!

Such a long overdue comment, but here goes. As a "teacher" at Mountain Knits and Pearls, I was so happy to hear you mention the shop (teacher in quotes since I never think that I teach anyone anything). It really is a great place for the yarn, help, friendship, and escape . . . plus, there's a nice little bar a few doors down. Glad you found the beads you were looking for!

who are we?

  • Jenny Check
Jenny learned to knit in 2005 and now knits to the exclusion of her personal hygiene. Her husband wonders how long this "knit from your stash" charade will continue.
  • Nicole
Nicole (aka Big Sister) is a librarian who knits. Or maybe a knitter who is a librarian. When she's not knitting on the bus or in front of the TV or at lunch or when chatting with friends, she is, well, that's pretty much it. Knitting.
