Freaked out...

Brookynite here. There are some great yarn stores. I haven't been to Brooklyn General, but I'd recommend Stitch Therapy and also The Yarn Tree. They're at opposite ends of Brooklyn (you can't get from one to the other so easily) but they have different yarns and vibes. The Yarn Tree also carries lots of exotic fibers for spinning. Enjoy your trip!

Jessica

Yes, stalk me!! I'll email you my phone number. I definitely want to meet you if you have a chance.

The flecks of orange in that yarn make it look like vomit because they represent the small chunks of carrot that characterise all child vomit, even if they don't eat carrots. Love the podcast.

Sarah

Another great show -- thanks!

Will you post pictures of the new wheel? Pretty please?

Leslie

Enjoyed the show, as always!!! :)

I actually know of an alpaca farm in PA. A friend just happened to mention it to me recently: http://www.alpacanation.com/farmsandbreeders/03_viewfarm.asp?name=12966

Hello Nicole and Jenny--

Love your podcast! Nicole, you mentioned in ep. 54 about seeing a minor league baseball game in PA on your vacation. Actually, since you'll be in Brooklyn, there is a minor league team there called the Brooklyn Cyclones. I went to see them with my husband when we used to live in NYC. Check them out if you can!

Keep up the good work with Stash and Burn!

I learned to crochet last summer after you suggested the Fun in the Sun hat. Mine had the funny diagonal too. When I went back and looked at the pattern more closely, the instructions say "When changing colors, work last loop of last st in new color." It's in the Notes section. I _think_ what that means is to change colors one stitch before you think you're supposed to.

another brooklynite here. i would recommend brooklyn general (in carroll gardens off the F train) and stitch therapy (park slope off the F train). brooklyn general is an experience unto itself. check out the most recent issue of IK - there's an article about the store. they have a decent selection of yarns as well as oodles of fabric. stitch therapy is more of a boutique kinda store and the owner (maxine) is super friendly. both carroll gardens and park slope are cute neighborhoods with lots of great restaurants and coffee shops. have fun!

I am new to your podcast but I am loving it already! Great job guys, you have made my day with this. Also a picture of your new wheel would be nice :) I'd love to see it. Anyway I'd love to talk to you later.

Hey there! Send out an email when you get here, there are so many fabulous new places in the city, and Brooklyn too to check out. Plus the NYC SnB has a new meeting place, you should definitely drop by!

While in the Poconos, go to Bushkill Falls. Several trails to hike; RED is the roughest, but views were worth it. Blogged here http://www.techhouse.us/Hosted/Petunia/?p=230

Handknit dishtowels/washcloths are the best! I didn't see the point of having them, either, until I made a few. Keep up the podcasts! I'm in a summer knitting slump but listening to several knitting podcasts has kept me somewhat in the loop.

who are we?

  • Jenny Check
Jenny learned to knit in 2005 and now knits to the exclusion of her personal hygiene. Her husband wonders how long this "knit from your stash" charade will continue.
  • Nicole
Nicole (aka Big Sister) is a librarian who knits. Or maybe a knitter who is a librarian. When she's not knitting on the bus or in front of the TV or at lunch or when chatting with friends, she is, well, that's pretty much it. Knitting.
