Great interview with Stephanie! What has knitting taught me? Knitting has taught me to go with the flow. Knitting has taught me to trust what I know. Knitting has taught me to take life in bits. Knitting has taught me to breathe as I knit(s).

super great podcast, as always!

i have the opportunity to meet stephanie in november, and i am counting days already

to quote: YAY!!

Things I learned from knitting:
1. How to use an IPOD and download podcasts (absolutely love Stash and Burn.)
2. It's okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.
3. Sometimes you just have to trust the process (turning the heel on my first pair of socks).
4. Patterns are only a jumping-off point. It's all about what YOU want to knit.
5. Knitting is another name for community. The support and fellowship of knitters is boundless.

Great episode!

Knitting has taught me: patience, to appreciate colour, not to be too 'perfect', knowing when to correct a mistake and when to leave it.

A Crafty Lawyer

Great interview. What have I learned from knitting? That nothing is more beautiful than something that was handmade. That wool is an amazing substance, and sheep are fantastically diverse creatures. And that knitters -- nearly all the ones I've met, anyway -- are really wonderful, generous people.

Great episode! Stephanie has the coolest outlook on her stash! I'm more like you guys where I tend to feel guilty about it . . . mostly when my boyfriend/domestic partner gets a look at it! I like thinking of the stash as the tools of my art.

Dear ladies of Stash and Burn:

I would like to win, mainly because I did not get to see the Harlot in person and I did not win anything on Ravelraiser. Therefore, this may be the 3rd strike for me. If I don't win this one, I think 2008 will just have to be known as The Year I Did Not Win, But Liked Anyway. I'm staying positive.

Thanks,
Jessica

Great interview! The thing that I've learned from knitting is that government medical care should cover or subsidize yarn purchases. I stress a lot and suffer from depression and knitting helps me relax - therefore it helps with my mental health. And perhaps they could cover some knitting classes - depressed individuals have problems getting out of the house - going to a yarn shop, taking a lesson and being around people who are knitting is great. When I walk into my LYS I take a deep breath and usually feel like I've gotten a shot of something relaxing. Perhaps this comment sounds a bit serious but I am smiling, laughing, and dreaming of the day that the government would pay for my knitting relaxation...

Sharon

I learned I don't have to be a fast knitter. I found myself buried under yarn in my enthusiam just sure I could knit a pair of sock per week. I can't but! that is okaayyyyy. Now I knit at my pace and love it.

Jenny Girl

Two of most favorite things together: you gals and the Harlot. Great interview!
I have learned many things from knitting, but I think the most important thing is to be yourself! It's okay if you make mistakes,or things don't come out perfect, or that people think you're weird because you love to knit. You love knitting thus being true to yourself. And that'e really all that matters :)

Lynn

What I have learned from knitting: the process is sometimes better that the result and that charts do not mix with alcohol

Amanda

New to the podcast, but I love it! Things I haven't learned from knitting: how to master the damn magic loop.

Cheryl

Love, love, love the podcast! Stephanie is hysterical. I missed seeing her in Minnesota, but hope to see her in person sometime soon. Thanks for the great podcast. I wait breathlessly for each episode!

Cheryl

Forgot to add what I have learned from knitting: knitters are amazing people!

Cynthia

I would appreciate it very much if you would please enter my name in the draw for Stephanie's book.

Thanks, guys!

Kathy Sue

Delurking to say I would love to be entered in the drawing for Stephanie's book.

I have learned from knitting that patience really is a virtue!!

Martha

Thanks for the interview. Great job, you let the interviewee respond to questions and expand on answers without interrupting. This is a skill!

I've learned from knitting that mistakes need not be the end of the project, but may be a creative alternative.

Lisathemom

Loved the show! My stash is slowly taking over the house, so "culling the herd" might be in order here, too....

Nelly

Nice interview. Things I learned from knitting: patience and perseverance.

Melissa

The most important lesson I have learned from knitting is that something doesn't need to be perfect in order to be beautiful, useful and warm!

Thank you ladies for your always awesome podcast!

Denise

What I learned from knitting:

- I love colours, and I can "paint" a fabric through knitting without actual drawing talent.

- It's okay to dismantle something and redo it when you're not happy with it.

Donna

That was a great interview - thanks so much, Jenny and Nicole! As far as what I've learned? Knit faster than you buy yarn, because there will always be more yarn waiting...

April

Great interview! Can't wait to see her in Philly next weekend!! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your podcast!!

Susan

I learned that many fantastic things can be made from a single strand of yarn and 2-4 sticks -- and that I enjoy busy fingers. :-)

Great interview! Thanks.

kimchi

thanks So much for this podcast!
I missed her at the faire (got sooo lost) and then got sucked in by the bazaar bizarre so it was really nice to hear her talk, at my desk! :o)
let's see...what has knitting taught me?
most recently that it brings Very Diverse People together and connects us so intimately with each other. It just is a connection that is so strong and does not unwind itself...unless you want to frog it all and start over again. :o)
or something like that...
thanks again, ek.

who are we?

  • Jenny Check
Jenny learned to knit in 2005 and now knits to the exclusion of her personal hygiene. Her husband wonders how long this "knit from your stash" charade will continue.
  • Nicole
Nicole (aka Big Sister) is a librarian who knits. Or maybe a knitter who is a librarian. When she's not knitting on the bus or in front of the TV or at lunch or when chatting with friends, she is, well, that's pretty much it. Knitting.
