Glad to have you back! I think the two-week schedule sounds good -- though the monthlong hiatus system was working okay for me, too. Just podcast when you want to!

lisa

Hi Girls!
YAY! you're back!!!

I missed you lots, but glad you had a nice break, you certainly deserve it! you have been so dedicated and I totally support the every other week thing!!!

Jenny - I am definitely interested in your copy of Alterknits! What do you want for it???

a loyal fan,
Lisa from Taos

Hurrah! I've been wandering over here every day for weeks...and finally y'all are back. I'd be willing to bet that it takes a lot to pull the podcast together, so no doubt breaks a necessity. But just know that there are many, many of us who really miss it when you're gone. (Had to go back and re-listen to earlier episodes.)

Welcome back.

Cynthia

I was excited to find another podcast this morning. I hope you both enjoyed your time off. I love listening to both of you, however often you podcast. The pics of your finished projects are great - you both do amazing work. Jenny - you are coming up on one year as a nurse, I hope you are enjoying the work as much as I have for the past 30 years!:)

Leslie

Great to have you back! If podcasting every other week will increase Stash and Burn's longevity, I'm all for it! :)

Welcome Back, Ladies!

1. I cannot let go of books. It's an illness.

2. I haven't reached the point where I'm happy destashing, but it's coming soon.

3. If I had to calculate the MILES of yarn that insulate our apartment, I would lose my mind.

Lynda

Thanks for the mention - and welcome back!

sooz

What do you do with yarn where you don't know the yardage?! Really glad you are back, I missed you and the ride to work just wasn't the same without you to listen to.

Oh and I'd love a copy of Alterknits! Always wanted to tackle knitting a screen door...

anne

I just discovered you, and I feel so late to the party!

I love your podcasts, especially all the Bay Area related discussion. Wish I'd listened back when I lived in SF.

Thanks for the new episode. I'm looking forward to listening to it during tomorrow's commute.

Suse

Glad to see you back after your little break.
I enjoy your podcast so much and appreciate all the time and care that you put into it, I think its up to you two to decide the schedule, you do have lives to lead after all! At least you dont have to worry about booking studio time ;-)

Lauren

I hear you with the turquoise. A friend at knit group just this week pointed out to me that I'd just finished a hat in turquoise as I was working on my Silver Belle in turquoise, and then I realized that my lace project at home is also in turquoise. They were all bought separately and I didn't realize I'd even done it. I think it's great, as long as I don't wear them all at the same time.

WonderMike

Oh, and I LOVE THE BSJ. Awfully darned cute!

Marce

Hi ladies!!! OF COURSE you are more than welcome to come back to us at the Gift-a-Long anytime! :) I think it's wonderful that you have so many people to share your knit gifts with that you can do so all year long. So happy to have you back. HUGS!

Lyn

I've downloaded "StashandBurn" -- Nicole and Jenny -- to my iPod almost since your first Podcast and have always missed you both when you have necessarily had to take a break. If it were up to me (so not!), you would be on every week ad infinitum, as your enthusiasm and humor and knack for analyzing knitting minutae are contagious, and all your topics match up with my interests as an intermediate knitter who is sometimes interested in stretching and sometimes just a bit lazy; like you, I usually have 4 or 5 projects going at once, and yet . . . and yet, some new yarn will steal my heart. You are every knitter's favorite podcast! I think we should all contribute (ala RavelRaisers) to keep you mostly every week, altho' it probably is not about the money. With too much podcasting, that's just less time for you to actually KNIT!

Liana

Nicole and Jenny........I am THRILLED to have you back, I have missed you terribly. I don't post comments very often but just had to tell you that I'm glad you're back. I think if there could be Knitting Talk Radio, you would be my choice of hosts!

Yay, you're back! I second (or third or fourth) the opinion that you should set whatever schedule will work best for you. We want to hear your bubbly enthusiasm and knitting insights for years to come and don't want you to burn out or (gasp!) podfade. We'll be here for you whatever your schedule turns out to be.

Wendy

Hi, Ladies! I'm so glad you're back, but was disappointed with the new music. What happened to "Dig Me Out"? It had become a personal theme song (not that it's helped with my own stash reduction...)!

Jenny Girl

Yea! Glad you are back. Missed you much. I don't think it's unreasonable to do a show from the "studio" every other week. Life has a habit of getting in the way. You obviously like what you do with the podcast, and if it starts to become like a chore, you may not want to do it anymore. God forbid of course!
Do what gotts do girls. Bi-weekly sounds good to me :) More knitting time for you as well I 'm sure. Take care!

africanqueen

Has any one ever mentioned to you that your theme music is Zimbabwean music. I don't mean to get political with you. The type of music is called "chimurenga" or war music and is incredibly significant in light of what is happening in Zimbabwe at the moment.

Rosie

Greetings, I'm finally all caught up with the episodes and I can't wait for the next one. One question: is there an easy way to find your yarn reviews? By the time I get to the show notes I've forgotten too many of the details. I was hoping they would be listed alphabetically on a sidebar. Help!

Charity

Hey, guys, welcome back! I missed you while you were gone!

I have a question for you - I noticed on Flickr that you are both thinking of knitting the Polka Purl Drops pattern - what are your thoughts on ease for this pattern? I'm planning on knitting it myself, and am unsure which way to go in the size decision. :0)

Sally Villarreal

Either format works for me.

My sudden goal of saving money, having a budget and actually having something in my savings account has forced me into a serious yarn diet without actually embarking on one. I'm glad that I have my stash, because although I don't have much money for a rainy day, I have plenty of yarn. I may whine, but being able to "shop in my stash" helps.

The whole half ball thing is why I don't count yards. Or count anything for that matter.

I'm also trying to declutter. However, I've decided to "destash" my My Little Pony collection to keep more yarn. I am destashing some of my old acrylic for donations.

A lot of people use the Year Long Gift-A-Long for more immediate gifts. It's helped me stay on track for birthdays, etc. I'm so glad I found it through you guys. I haven't met all my goals, but I have met some, which is progress.

Guy knits would be a great topic for another show.

I've seen a lot of people make lace with sock yarn. Not thinking of it as "sock" yarn may help.

who are we?

  • Jenny Check
Jenny learned to knit in 2005 and now knits to the exclusion of her personal hygiene. Her husband wonders how long this "knit from your stash" charade will continue.
  • Nicole
Nicole (aka Big Sister) is a librarian who knits. Or maybe a knitter who is a librarian. When she's not knitting on the bus or in front of the TV or at lunch or when chatting with friends, she is, well, that's pretty much it. Knitting.
