Hello Yarn!

If Jenny & I sound a little out of sorts, it's because we were hearing our voices on tape delay, which is a really trippy experience.

Music:

Dig Me Out: Sleater Kinney
Lion's Mane: Iron and Wine

Thanks so much, guys!

hehe that Bob picture!

Have a great break.

I really enjoyed hearing about ravelry. Have a great break.

Hi! Love the podcast...I've been listening all summer! I have a quick, very random question that has nothing to do with today's podcast. I recently saw a sweater and can't FOR THE LIFE OF ME remember where... I thought it was from the new IK, but no. I've checked knitty and magknits and other usual suspects, and the only other thing I can think is that I linked to it on one of your show notes (I've been listening to pretty much all of the archives over the course of the summer). The sweater is a really simple cross over cardigan with kimono-type sleeves with a wide cuff of what looks like seed stitch. The body of the sweater, if I remember correctly, is made from two rectangles which are sewn together on an angle, with, I think, more of the seed stitch border. Does this sound remotely familiar? I really want to find this pattern again, and I am stumped.

If not, thanks again for the fun listening! I don't have any knitty friends where I live, so it's fun to listen in on some knit talk. My husband SO doesn't get the concept... "so you are listening to patterns? No, not even to patterns, just talking ABOUT yarn and knitting???"

Thanks -- you two ended the season with panache. Thanks for including Bob in so many ways. Yay!

Another great pod cast, I cant wait until I get added to Ravelry, I am still patiently waiting...well not patiently but waiting none the less :-) Well happy knitting, have a good rest of the week and a great weekend!!!!!

That was a great interview. :)

Yay! I can't wait till you guys are back, but it sounds like the two of you (and Casey, and Jess!) deserve the downtime.

BETH, are you thinking of Norah Gaughan's "Origami Cardi" from IK Summer 2007?

I'll miss you guys on my walk! hurry back! Jess and Casey are totally awesome. They are smart, humble and GENEROUS. Geez, they quit their jobs to create Ravelry. Is there anyone out there that doesn't think Ravelry is the most incredible tool available to us? Everyone should click the 'donate' button on Ravelry, every bit, I'm sure, would help them out!

Another great episode!! Who knew that one of the Ravelry people was a guy!!?? I feel like such a dork. Maybe cause I know of a girl named Casey. Anyways......have a wonderful, much deserved break. Can't wait for your return. :)

It was so nice to hear the voice behind the new latest craze. I'm still waiting for an invite but I am really excited about the concept.

Thanks again for a great podcast.

Awesome as always! Have a good vacation :)

I'll miss the show during the break, but I hope you enjoy your respite. Thanks for having Casey and Jess on. Ravelry is definitely where my stitches are at, and they really deserve for the site to be a real success--one that pays the bills!

Great show, again. It was nice to learn more about Jess and Casey (although I had imagined Jess's voice being different, but I'm just a dope like that - you know one who actually spent time imagining her voice - I'm not a stalker, I swear!). Anyway, I just got my ravelry invite a week or so ago, so this was quite timely for me.

All hail Jess and Casey and the goodness that is Ravelry!

TERRIFIC episode. You guys are always so current in your podcast topics. Enjoy your well-deserved break. I'll miss you!

Nice podcast! This one is getting me even more excited about my upcoming Ravelry invite (only like 1600+ ahead of me!)! I've got a good friend that is a little jealous because she's still got like 10,000 ahead of her before she can get on Ravelry.

Jess and Casey...thanks so much for creating Ravelry! It's just what us crafters need.

This was my first stash and burn podcast, and I was sold within the first two seconds. Anything that starts out with Sleater-Kinney is a keeper.

Loved listening to Jess and Casey!

Great timing! I was listening to your interview and then I got my Ravelry invitation.

This was my first time listening to the Stash and Burn podcast too! Was knitting while listening and just had to stop and sign in to my Rabelry site. Love both the podcast and Ravelry.

This compliment has been a long time coming - you guys pick FANTASTIC music for the end of each episode.

Loved hearing from the king and queen Ravelers, but I hope they are getting enough rest and downtime, they sounded tired! Poor Jess and Casey. I'll miss the podcast during your break, but enjoy and recharge. Thanks so much for putting Iron and Wine on the podcast, I can't believe I'd missed the existence of such sublime music before.

I, too, am a first-time Stash-n-Burner, and I really enjoyed your podcast. I like that it opened and closed with music, but that most of the meat of it was just that -- a good, meaty interview. Loved hearing Jess & Casey talk about Ravelry, as I'm a huge fan of their brilliant invention. Here's hoping that a year (or six months) from now, they'll be living high on the hog and making tons of moolah on all their hard work.

Thanks to you guys for giving them so much air time. :-)

Love your podcast. I just discovered it and I'm now catching up on all of them while knitting:)

I so enjoyed listening to your conversation with Jess and Casey!

Enjoy your little break -- can't wait till you're back. :)

I can't believe it took me so long to finally sit down and listen to this episode!

There's an old Dilbert cartoon that's stuck with me since I first read it. Dilbert says some thing along the lines of "What if God is the consciousness created when we are connected through the internet?" I think Ravelry is a microcosm of that concept. I think it is a perfect example of what great things we can do when everyone gets connected.

The feature I'm waiting for is the ability to search through my queued patterns by tag. I want to be able to say "I want to knit some socks" and look at all the socks I've seen over the past months that I queued.

In addition to ideas for the one skein contest, I've used Ravelry as a way to check gauge, see how different yarns hold up, find out about alternate yarns for patterns, etc.

who are we?

  • Jenny Check
Jenny learned to knit in 2005 and now knits to the exclusion of her personal hygiene. Her husband wonders how long this "knit from your stash" charade will continue.
  • Nicole
Nicole (aka Big Sister) is a librarian who knits. Or maybe a knitter who is a librarian. When she's not knitting on the bus or in front of the TV or at lunch or when chatting with friends, she is, well, that's pretty much it. Knitting.
